Creative Portraits

Photography is more than just taking beautiful pictures — it’s about creating space for you to feel seen, known, and at ease. Whether you’re getting married, celebrating your relationship, or showing up for yourself in a boudoir session, my approach is rooted in intention and connection. I’m not here to just “pose you” — I’m here to capture the real stuff: the quiet in-between moments, the wind in your hair, the genuine laughter, the softness in your eyes.

I approach every session with a documentary mindset and a cinematic eye. That means I’ll guide you when needed, but I’m mostly here to observe, to notice the details, and to turn your story into something timeless. I use a mix of digital and 35mm film to give your gallery both clarity and texture — a balance of modern and nostalgic that feels deeply personal.

Sessions with me are relaxed, collaborative, and tailored to who you are. Whether it’s an intimate elopement in the mountains, a windswept couple’s session by the sea, or a quiet, empowering boudoir shoot — the experience is designed to feel more like a memory than a photoshoot.

You don’t have to know how to pose. You just have to show up as yourself. I’ll take care of the rest.

Still Frames, Full of Feeling.

This is your love, captured honestly and artfully — no stiff poses or forced smiles, just the real connection you share. Whether it’s an anniversary, a just-because session, or a quiet moment in the middle of life together, couple sessions are a chance to slow down and be present with each other.

We’ll choose a location that feels meaningful or inspiring — your home, the ocean, a favorite trail, or somewhere new. I’ll guide you gently while leaving space for spontaneity and emotion. Expect laughter, movement, soft moments, and maybe a little wind in your hair. These sessions are laid-back, creative, and tailored to feel like you.

In the end, you’ll walk away with images that look like your love feels: real, cinematic, and full of life.

FAQs

Intimate Weddings & Elopements

1. What is considered an intimate wedding or elopement?
An intimate wedding typically includes fewer than 75 guests, allowing for a more personal and relaxed experience. An elopement is an even smaller-scale celebration, including fewer than 10 guests, often just the couple (and sometimes a few close loved ones), focusing on their connection rather than a large event.

2. How far in advance should we book you?
For intimate weddings, I recommend booking at least 6-12 months in advance to secure your date. Elopements can sometimes be scheduled with less notice, depending on availability.

3. Do you help with location scouting?
Yes! I provide guidance on stunning locations for elopements and intimate weddings, whether you're looking for a scenic mountaintop, secluded beach, or cozy venue.

4. Do you offer packages with officiants or planners?
While I focus on photography, I can recommend amazing officiants, planners, florists, and other vendors to make your day seamless.

5. What if the weather is bad on our elopement day?
I always have a backup plan! Depending on the forecast, we can shift the timeline, find covered locations, or embrace the elements for unique and stunning photos.

6. Can we include family and friends in our elopement?
Absolutely! Your elopement can be as private or inclusive as you want. Some couples bring a handful of loved ones to witness their vows, while others prefer a completely private experience.

7. How many photos will we receive, and when?
Depending on the package you choose you'll receive anywhere from 100-1000 fully edited images via an online gallery, typically within 10 weeks. Sneak peeks are usually sent within a few days to a week!

FAQs

Boudoir Photography

1. I’m nervous! Do you help with posing?
Absolutely! I guide you through every pose, helping you feel comfortable and confident. You don’t need any prior experience—just come as you are, and I’ll take care of the rest.

2. Where does the boudoir session take place?
Sessions can be held in a professional studio, a luxury hotel, an Airbnb, or even in your home if the lighting and space allow. I’ll help you choose the perfect setting! They can also take place at a stunning location like a lake, mountains, forest, desert, or ocean.

3. What should I wear for my boudoir shoot?
Wear whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful! This could be lingerie, an oversized sweater, a silky robe, or even nothing at all—boudoir is about celebrating your unique beauty. Bringing multiple options is always the best bet and I am happy to help you decide!

4. Will my photos be private?
Absolutely! Your privacy is my top priority. I will only share images with your permission, and your gallery is securely delivered to you.

5. Do you offer professional hair and makeup?
Hair and makeup are not included in the session, but I’ve got you covered with a list of trusted artists I love working with! Once you book your session, I’ll send over my recommended vendors so you can choose someone whose style matches yours. You’ll book directly with them, but I’m happy to coordinate timing and answer any questions along the way.

6. Can I bring a friend or partner to the session?
You’re welcome to bring a friend for moral support! However, I find that solo sessions allow you to relax and feel more comfortable.

7. Do you edit or retouch my photos?
I lightly retouch images for blemish removal and color correction, while keeping your natural beauty intact. I do not alter body shapes because you are already stunning just as you are!

8. What’s the turnaround time for boudoir photos?
Depending on the package you choose you’ll receive 40-100 fully edited images within 4 weeks, with sneak peeks available within a few days.

Madison took some of the cutest photos of my boyfriend and I recently, and I love how authentic she is as a photographer because it truly showed through her work. She was intentional with her shots and brought out genuine smiles! I’d love to work with her again.

"Madison was the best! Really patient and professional. It was like having a date with my boyfriend and friend hahaha. I loved not only the pictures but also the process, she guide us how to pose, she suggested places that she already tried the day before in order to have a nice sunset... Etc The editing that she made to our photos were also amazing!"

My partner and I decided to do a photoshoot for our 3 year anniversary. I am a non-binary goth and my partner is a stereotypical skater boy. we have a lot of love for each other but have struggled to find other people accepting of that love in the community in this way. Mads was sweet, and kind while working with us, making us both feel comfortable. we had so much fun getting to know her as well ! highly recommend. I thank her for everything + the distance she was willing to travel as well :) 🖤

My partner and I had such a wonderful experience working with Madison Joyce Photography. Met for a couple’s shoot at the Vista House Viewpoint! As a queer couple, finding photographers that are safe is hard sometimes. But we felt safe and listened to, and celebrated during our photoshoot. We would recommend Madison Joyce Photography to anyone looking for an effortless and fun experience that captures your love! (They also took some digital and some film photos)

Sarah

It was so wonderful working with Madison. From the initial consultation to the actual shoot, Madison made me feel heard and at ease. She ensured our outdoor shooting location was not only perfect for the photos but also secluded and away from other people. By the end of our time, I felt so comfortable and confident despite the outdoor location. I am so thrilled with my photos and appreciate the quick turn around! Would love to book with her again! If you are on the fence about adding film photos, I would HIGHLY recommend adding some them on. They add an extra level of magic and I am so happy to have them!
