Mount Rainier, or as its traditionally known by Indigenous communities, Tahoma, is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Pacific Northwest. Whether it’s bathed in golden-hour light or wrapped in an ethereal mist, this iconic peak always delivers a stunning backdrop for any adventure elopement or couples session. As an inclusive photographer passionate about creating safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ couples, I love capturing love stories in places as vast and awe-inspiring as the love stories they hold.

An Adventurous Mount Rainier Couples Session
Ashley, Siona, and I set out on the Skyline Trail in hopes of catching a clear view of Paradise, one of the most scenic spots in Mount Rainier National Park. But as anyone who has visited the PNW mountains knows, the weather has a mind of its own. Instead of sweeping vistas, we were met with thick fog rolling through the trees, creating a dreamlike, cinematic atmosphere.
Rather than waiting for the skies to clear, we embraced the mystery of the moment. The mist softened the landscape, giving the entire session an almost otherworldly feel. Ashley and Siona twirled together on the trail, their laughter echoing through the quiet mountainside. These are the moments I love to capture—the raw, unfiltered joy of two people deeply in love, set against the ever-changing beauty of nature.

Why Mount Rainier Is Perfect for LGBTQIA+ Elopements & Sessions

Planning Your LGBTQIA+ Elopement or Couples Session at Mount Rainier
If you’re considering eloping in Mount Rainier National Park or want a romantic adventure session with your partner, here are a few tips to help you plan:
- Pick the Right Season – Summer offers wildflowers and clear views, while fall and winter bring a more dramatic, moody aesthetic. Springtime can be a mix of both!
- Be Prepared for Changing Weather – The PNW is known for its unpredictable climate, so layers and rain gear are always a good idea.
- Choose an Experienced Photographer – Finding a Mount Rainier elopement photographer who knows the best trails, lighting conditions, and park regulations is key to making your session stress-free and magical.
- Respect the Land – As always, practicing Leave No Trace principles helps preserve these beautiful spaces for future couples to enjoy.
